An Update from the Intern Desk

I have some free time here at WOGL so I will write you from the intern cubby. This internship is great. I'm dabbling in all the things that hopefully will get me a job in radio. I work in promotions and then I'm just starting to break in the production side of things. I got to do my first big market voice-over! The spot was for an overactive bladder research panel, but hell, I'll take what i can get! Soon I will be producing some AOL promos I wrote for the internet stream. Very exciting.

Also what's exciting is wedding planning. Mike and I have a date and a place to get married. the wheels are finally turning. Also in the same day I found the perfect pattern for my dress. I will reveal this at a later date, I don't want to spoil any surprises. Our date in 10/2/10.

Also in the news of my life, the Noro bag is coming along great, I love the colors. Pictures to come soon. The lining is going to rock too. I better hurry up on the Noro Back because my purse is getting crowded!

I bought a date-book to have a central place for my calendar and wedding planning. My wallet needs her space and now I can finally say I have graduated from the tracfone. Yes, Today Mike is out getting us matching iphones.

do i know how the hell to use an iphone? no. is this phone way beyond my tech needs and/or abilites? Yes. But the boy found a sale/rebate/good deal and we can't pass it up and now is the time for new phones. Fine, whatever.

I am excited to get a bunch of girly apps on my phone. maybe now i will finally learn to text properly....

Anyway, more bloging should come soon. I am taking off from BJ's for two weeks while I housesit for my aunt. she is going to france with my baby sister. I get to dogsit a cute new dog too. I will have lots to do. I will still be coming to my internship and I have to find wedding fabric! stay tuned, if I find a way, I will post my overactive bladder spot for all to hear!

Well, I got engaged, got a job, got an internship, got wedding planning started, needless to say I HAVE BEEN VERY busy! I home sick now so I thought I'd type a bit! I've been all over, went to Rosie's and got more Noro, went to David Bridal just to play dress up (i'm making my gown!) and more!
Here's my shiny in some of my new noro! I'm finally knitting sleeve on that sweater, more updates to come soon.

Ah a Productive Sunday

Today was a good day! Woke up around 11:30, putzed around until12:50 and went to my knitting group. then came back, did my laundry, wrote a smidge of my paper on Swedish vs. Danish Immigration policy. Then I went over to my friend's apartment and had dinner. I came back to my room, finally finished the body of my "Spring Break" sweater. I ran to wal-mart for some Silk Milk and Milanos. Now I am here writing this. Today was a good day.

So my Knitting Group fucking rocks. We discussed all sorts of things over our knitting projects, included a knitted version of the Snuggie. I am seriously considering making one out of merino. Funny story, There this kid down my hall that uses his Snuggie in the nude. It's so ridculous, you would have to see it in person to fully understand how halarious it is. Anyway, that was a side note, my knitting group was the best 4 hours i've had in a long time. I wish I could afford to go to all of the sit-ins. they are so fun. Why do I get along so well with people 2 and 3 times my age?

Classes are getting in the way of my college experience, so are my asshole friends. The herd is thinning very quickly. Next semesters' room mate can't wait to live with me. This semester's room mate is eating massive amounts of crow. Read a few blog posts ago about the dick friends and imagine that worst that could happen to them....yeah it did. In trying to avoid living with my for one semester and then getting a random, my friends went with living with 5 randoms for 2 semesters. HAHAHAHAHHA Karma's a sweet sweet bitch.

Sorry, that was so unbuddhist of me. I should mention I am being the bigger person and not mention the irony that plays before my eyes. *sigh* anywhooo. I should be writing a paper. Catch y'all on the flip.

So, the title is just something popping around my head. Life with my shit friends hasn't gotten much better, but Karma rocks. I'll get into that another time when I feel like Carrie Bradshaw or something. So below is a picture of the sweater I didn't finish over spring break. Oops.
It's all good though, because I am going to knit today while watching movies online and tomorrow at my knitting group at Mountain Knit and Pearls in East Stroudsburg. I'm so glad to be going, I haven't gotten to go in about two months. Can't wait to see all the ladies again, and get a large chunk of knitting done! Anywho, I'm all jittery on coffee right now. I had some strong brew at the diner this morning. I'm bouncing around like nothing else. I got to occupy my hands! Off to wind a few balls. Catch on the flip with some FO pictures!

Have I said that lately? I'm so glad I got it for my Birthday back in September. Isn't she cute? Here's a picture.

I got the cushions finished! Set number 1 complete! I'm very impressed with myself. I didn't know I could do it.
I hate sock knitting. They take forever! Argh! Also, I hate looking for internships. I'm getting an ulcer just thinking about it. I'm going home this weekend, spending an anti-valentine's day with the boy. Should be fun.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

So here I sit on my laptop, waiting for the boy to arrive for a visit. I have no pictures to share, just ramblings.

I hate college and I hate girls. One semester to go and its all over. My friends told me they don't want to live with me next year b/c of the one semester issue. Oddly enough, i was upset, but I'm sorta relieved. These are different people than the ones I met freshman year. I saw their true colors when when out-of-the-blue told me they wanted no parts of me. My friends on the rav made me feel better by telling me its their loss. To which I say true that. I'm excited, I kinda get a fresh start the last semester I'm in school. I don't mean to sound dramatic, I still have a very few close friends that I can share anything with, I just don't live near them. I'm tired of being around people who don't support me and are jealous. I would go out of my way to defend any of my friends for the littliest thing, but it's now obvious that I would not get that in return. I was sad about this, then I was mad. Now I don't care, I'm guarded and now I pretty much don't give the time of day.

I busy myself with other things. I'm knitting more than I got to last semester. I finished one sock last night, and will cast on another today. I'm sewing more too, my boss gives me little projects an I'm getting to the stuff I have been meaning to sew/mend.

Class aren't as overloadbusy as last semester, but they are working on that. I have a lot reading for senior seminar and my poli sci classes. My fun classes are definately sign language and chinese. My bullshit class is definately organizational communication. It is so worthless.

My show is going well. It's Wednesdays from 3-5pmEST. Its music and gossip. I have really taken a backseat to working with people at the station. I felt really undermined last week. Long story, this post is long enough. Long story short, don't ask me to plan an event and then behind my back deem it a failure and plan it out from under me and expect me to still want to be involved. Confusing, eh?

Other than that, I'm surviving. I'm going home next weekend for valentine's day. We're not doing anything special, jus taking advantage of the weekend. I can't wait to go to Philly when it gets warmer. I want to go to Chinatown so bad, and fabric row. I put in my resume for a few stations, hopefully I get a call next month for an interview. *crosses fingers* Ok, enough posting. Boyfriend will be here soon!

My workstudy boss gave me a few sewing projects. Last week I hemmed PJ pants and this week I'm making cushion covers for lawn chairs. Had to create the pattern and sew everything. I think they came out awesome. If my boss thinks the same, I have 5 more to do!

Its really starting to look like fall! The temperature finally followed suit and its cool and purty outside. I took a few shots from my window. I went home this weekend and visited JoAnn's Fabric since I no longer associate with any Wal-Mart due to their lack. I pick up some fabric to make PJ pants.
Some polar bears for my sister. I will make them capri PJ pants. I also found some EXCELLENT penguin fabric.
I got enough to make Mikey a pair and a pair for me!! Both the polar bears and penguins are a cotton. Mike likes flannel, but its not as practical as it was when he was in college. While I picked up the awesome fabric, I picked up a zipper for the CPH sweater. Can you see it? Look how excellent i matched!! I'm hella excited about it!!

And for my second post of the day, I have pictures! It's been a light day. Two of my classes were canceled and I got to knit at work. I finished a paper and I still have to study for an exam, but in the last week, I have gotten a lot of knitting done.

First, This past weekend I came to find out that my Wal-Mart by school no longer sells fabric AND they have gotten rid of most of the yarn. I was very upset! To sooth my pain, I went to A.C Moore. I was a very good girl, I didn't buy any yarn! That doesn't mean I didn't make it out with out any yarn! Melissa and Sam were with me and Melissa said she wanted a hat. I talked her into some mittens made out of some Moda Dea Tweedle Dee. Here they are:

I knit one mitten in one afternoon! I still have to cast on for the second one. Its still too warm for mittens, so I have time. In other knitting news, while I haven't touched my version of the CPH, I have gotten some sock done! The stitch pattern is starting to get a bit boring but good thing I am pretty close to the heel situation of the sock!
Speaking of socks, I made these for my sister over the summer and she finally took a picture of them!

Good afternoon! Just a boring post today. I got my sewing machine!! its so purty!! Pictures to come. I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, but I got a case. I started to reknit the second pair of mikey-socks. I put the sweater down, but i will pick it back up very soon! Classes are killing me, they are totally getting in the way of my hobbies. I'm on-air tonight. I got new music on my laptop and I have quite a bit to talk about! After my show is the VP debates! I'm looking forward to the entertainment factor, it should be good material for Tina Fey! Well back to knitting that sock! I think I will cast on another project soon too!

So the semester is busier than I thought! I have lots of classes, lots of work, lots of radio and not enough time to knit!
My shows are going well. My music show is later tonight. I have a few shadows (noobie DJ's) tonight, so I have to watch my mouth! My partner in crime, Rebecca won't be at the station tonight. It's just me and the shadows. It's goo though, because I can get some knitting! Here's what I'm working on:

This is what I have so far of my version of the Central Park Hoodie. So far, so good. I went to my knitting group here up at school and got a lot done on a Sunday afternoon. The only thing I'm concerned about is in the above picture, the cable on the left looks weird. Not sure what I should do about that, we'll see what it looks like off the needles.
Here's the front. I'm going to knit the body and then add on the hood then knit the edge on the hood and fronts. I'm going to have a zipper. I decided to do the sleeves last.

And last but not least, I went to the Bloomsburg Fair last night. I had deep fried pickles and saw a lot of farm animals. I have decided I want a bunny! They were so0o0o cute! Anyway, I'm off to study study study! I have to get all my work done before the weekend, Mike and I are going to the Art Museum, the Edgar Allen Poe House and then to Amada for Dinner!

I've been in class and around campus. I've been knitting too. I'm knitting the CPH all in one piece! Rewrote the pattern in Geography. So far so good.

Tomorrow I will be at a Dog Show for the station. It should be fun except I have been sick for days!

I'm busy a lot now, so the blog has been lacking. I have to start a few project in the near future. Keep an eye out!

On my textbooks! Went to Amazon and saved almost 600 bucks! Now I am hoping they are all the right versions and that they get to my dorm in good time. I am quite relieved. This semester I have 13 books for six classes! If I bought them through the school store (AKA, rape-you-for-all-you've-got-land) I would spend $820 after tax. With Amazon I pair just over $200! Cross your fingers, I hope all works out!
In knitting news, started new socks! I took a break from Mike Socks. These socks are...different. The color combos of the yarn do not match. It's like Stevie Wonder dyed the yarn. But, as you knit it all up, the colors stripe into something that looks kinda cool. I think I like it. I will be more sure after I have a finished pair to wear.
Oh, I almost forgot! I have a second time slot! My daytime talk show, "The Chit and Chat with Manni" will broadcast live on Tuesdays from 2-3pm! Tune in at 90.3 WESS!!
Now I must get back to packing and getting all my stuff organized! I move back Sunday morning!!

Good news and bad news. The good news is that I finished my sweater! Bad news is that I have to rip out the socks I was knitting mike, they are too big for him. I am pissed! I am taking them to Sue's today and Ball winding them out.

In other news, went to the yarn store, picked up some elusive magazines that everyone wants and some more sock yarn!The Mags are one that have patterns I want. That Knitscene is the one with the Central Park Hoodie in it. I got both for 3 bucks. The yarn is "Forever" by Lane Cervinia. Its got all kinds of colors going through it.

I finished Mike's curtains. Pictures of that coming soon.

Ok, yarn-gasim over. Today I am vegging out at the apartment. Word on the street is that the couch might arrive tomorrow. I am watching No Reservations and after this post, I will continue the never ending sock. Never ending because Mike's feet are far to long, especially when knitting in tiny needles!

The socks are knit from Wildfoote yarn. I don't know how I feel about the yarn. It looks great when knit into a fabric, but its thin and very splitty. It's a downright bitch. I have decided that I never want to knit socks this thin again. Too small, my fingers are cramping up.

Anyway, Let's talk about yesterday. I went to Sue's and had some homemade Sushi. It was pretty awesome. That evening it was time to go back to the apartment, the traffic was a mess because there was a fire at a near-by apartment building. You could see the fire from the parking lot. It was really sad, fires are devastating. It was especially sad when Mike found out one of his co-workers lived in the complex. Mike's co-worker lost everything. I hope he is alright. Mike called to check up on him and he was at a fire hall.

Since Mike and I both arrived late, it was a bit too late to cook dinner so we decided to eat out. Mike picked this Japanese place. IT WAS A SUSHI BUFFET! it was called Minado
The food was alright, but very expensive. I ate my share!

Oh, and in Radio news, my first show has been scheduled! My night show will be every Thursday from 7-9 on 90.3 WESS FM.
It will most likely be a music show. The first broadcast will be August 28th. The day and time of my other two shows will be announced soon, so stay tuned!

Its been a while since I have posted. Got my swap buddy the other day, I am planning fun things! I can't share them since she might scroll this area! I'm at the apartment, so no camera. Today is my cleaning day! After brunch I am going to be a little tornado of clean up in here!

I go back to school in two weeks. Yay! I have decided that my night show will be on thursdays. Keep an ear out.

RIP Bernie

Since I'm still off air, I can't write anything up for broadcast, so I will have to blog.

Bernie Mac passed away today. He was ill for about two weeks. Rest in Peace. "Guess Who" is one of my favorite films. He was only 50 years old and is survived by a wife and children. Picture courtesy of www.jalc.org

I had a hard time watching. Could it have been anymore rehearsed? Could you dance around anymore questions, John? It's really interesting that John didn't know the answer to A LOT of question.

So I have had enough of work. So I go in today and I tell my boss, "I'm am going to finish out the week and then I'm done." What was her response? "No." What the hell! You can say that?! I was totally blown away. Then I got the 20-million questions, why? why? why? She would not let up, so I finally lied and said I have another job, a real job! Still didn't work. She thinks I'm working next week. She is going on vacation and wants me to "hold off." I have been walked all over for the last time. I'm going to talk to her one more time, and if it doesn't go well I'm leaving my store key and walking out. I wanted to work tomorrow night, leave my key and be done, but my mom did remind me that my first offer was to finish out the week. Continue on that path, if they start to bully you again, just leave. I just can't take it anymore. I feel bad about leaving people hanging and appearing ungrateful, but this has crossed a line. I was promised so many things that never happened. I was promised no nights, well I work three this week. I was promised a raise, It took four weeks to get it. I had to take all these manager tests, work shitty hours, and after I told them I wanted less hours and a chance to have a life, they pissed on it. Why should I feel bad, what the hell is wrong with me? I want to actually enjoy some of my summer. Argh Argh Argh. I hate being a good person sometimes. I feel awful about lying, but they weren't getting the picture so I had to dumb it down. This is not how I wanted things to end. I'm so mad. I'm so confused. What the hell do you do in this situation? I am so taken off guard! I am just a big ball of nerves, I need to get zen...

My last day

It's my last day house-hunting and I am ready to go home. I am tired and I miss a normal routine. Today I was up early to do the normal dog chores. I meant to go back to bed after walking the dog, but the house-cleaner showed up. Oh well. I checked my email in the garden, had breakfast and went for a walk. I FINALLY got to knit in the park. I took a few pictures from my bench. I got quite a bit of my sock done and then my mom called. It was quite relaxing, but really hot.
The new French restaurant called "Parc." It looks like a lot of the eateries I saw in Paris years ago.
Rittenhouse is great for dogs and A LOT of people come to just sit and hang out, maybe eat their lunch. There were a lot of people today. I say across from a women who was on the phone and giving TERRIBLE relationship advice. I cringed to hear this women yammer and at times, yell on the phone.
I can't wait to go home. I'm not excited to go back to work. If you read the old blog, you know the story. But its miserable. I think I will work a week and then call it quits. I just don't feel like working anymore. Not working is great! If only you could get paid to not work! Oh well, we'll see how the work thing goes. It's lunch time.

It looks pretty rough out today. It was hazy and overcast when I went into the garden to take some photos. Now, its windy and there's a slight roll of thunder. I know its going storm big because the satellite is acting wonky. Here's today's posts with photos!
This morning I knitted some more while watching the various wedding shows on WE. Here's what I got so far. Last night I took a break and wound the remaining yarn into a ball. Much easier to work with now!
Yesterday I talk about a trip to Chinatown, now I have proof of my loot! First is this cool bracelet I bought for my sister's birthday. It different stones (jade and agate) craved into the animals of the Chinese calendar. I thought it looked pretty cool. I bought her the one on the burgundy cord (luck and happiness)
I couldn't resist buying myself one! Mine is on red cord (protection and luck). It matches my little Buddha!
Also picked up yest another pair of China shoes!!! The shoe I get them from had lost power so I had to find these in the dark! I have a red pair just like these. They are black brocade with every color and different designs. I can't wait to wear them!

Here's my newest Buddha. This one will replace my current Buddha when he decides to break away from my body. This one is a bit bigger and is agate. It's just the right size to wear on my wrist. The picture isn't that great, but he is a very very pale green. I also got a red cord, of course!And this is my newest deity! This is Kwan-Yin. The goddess of Mercy. Basically the Worrier's Goddess. And boy do I need one of these! She is agate too, there was a jade one, but I couldn't haggle the price down.
A good shopping day indeed! The other day at Chinatown, I hit the jackpot in Kitchen Gods. I bought one for the boyfriend and for my friend Sue. Everyone should have a Kitchen God! Now that is storming, any plans for today are kind of moot. I really don't know where to go in the rain. Theres still a chance we could hit up a museum. Right now I'm eating Pad Thai and awaiting the arrival of boyfriend.
Days like this make me miss the radio station. On radio days, or hell- when the weather was bad in general, I would go to the station and knit at the board or in my office. Plus, it's been a juicy celeb gossip for a few weeks (what is up with John Edwards???) Alas, I will be broadcasting in a few weeks. I will talk more about my shows in the future, right now I can finally watch Food Network star!

A good day was had by moi today. I made some very good progress this morning on the sock I am knitting. I made the heel flap, turned the heel, and decreased for the gusset all before 10:30 am. I am trying out these awesome new needles I bought at my yarn store back home. They are called "Hiya Hiya" needles. They are a circular needle that is about 6 inches long. Very itty bitty, but i like it!
I took a break from the needles to show my college friends the city of brotherly love. After a stroll through Reading Terminal (the only place I get a cheese steak!) we went to China Town (where I stocked up on some Jade deities) and then some various shopping on Walnut. Around 5ish, we parted ways- I was tired and had to tend to a pooch, and they wanted to wonder South street.
After tending to the pooch, I settled down to some Mythbusters and my half-done sock. I'm now working the instep. I will knit and watch the tube for a few more hours, I'm still waiting to hear from a certain MIA boyfriend. It's pretty late, so I think I will give up on that.
Since the MIA'ness of said boyfriend, tomorrows plans are still up in the air. I was thinking about hitting up a few museums. But with no word, I might just knit in the park.

Making the Switch

I'm House-sitting is my favorite city this week. I went to Fabric Row, China Town, South Street, Walnut Street and of course to Rosie's. I have been a little ill in the last few days, but other than that my stay has been awesome. I caught myself up on project runway, walking A LOT, and of course knitting.
I was so mad at myself for forgetting to bring the last ball of yarn I needed to finish a knitted version of the French Flag. I am so so close to finishing the last section. I only need about four or five more inches. Here's a shot of what I have so far. The rest will have to be completed when I return home.
I tried to get more of this yarn at a Craft store on South Street, but they didn't have the colorway. I'm so glad the picture turned out, my camera has been on the fritz lately. I am really happy with the stitch pattern. It's gorgeous! So, for the rest of my trip I am finished knitting this project. Anyone who knows me, know I can not be anywhere with out some kind of knitting. So I brought along another project I am working on: a pair of socks for the boyfriend. The yarn is Wildfoote in the Mum colorway. So far I have the cuff and calf done. In the very future I will start the heel. As I mentioned before I went to Rosie's. And yes, I fed into temptation and bought yarn. Forty dollars worth! But hey, I deserve it! It's Noro, my first Noro. I've never used it before and can't wait to try it! I'm going to knit a back-pack like purse and line it and everything. If all goes well, it might be my Knitting Olympics project. It's colorway 226 A. Me likey!
